STRACHAN'S ROOM

"Central to these works is the personal of Australian painter David Strachan (1919-1970). According to Young’s re-reading of the history of Australian art Strachan’s place within this national tradition is akin to that of an apparition, an archetype and a shadow… Strachan’s Room is more than just an uncritical homage to the life and work of David Strachan. Young’s interpretation of Strachan’s paintings build upon a pre-existing philosophical and aesthetic system and through the expression of timelessness and introspection Young celebrates the poetry and mystery of David Strachan’s unattainable world."
